Arena, gladiator school, furnished interiors, training grounds and landscape: a complete modular environment for games, cinematics, VR and historical reconstructions.
More than an arena: the world of gladiator life
We recreated the ludus, the school where gladiators lived and trained, in 3D. Alongside the arena are training grounds, cells, dormitories, an armory, a kitchen, a dining hall and reception rooms.
Each building is made of reusable modules: you can create new layouts, expand the scene or use individual interiors and props in other projects.
A Roman environment for Unreal Engine conceived as a collection of Ancient Rome 3D assets: the 3D gladiator ludus brings together the school, everyday life and combat.

What was a Roman ludus, the gladiator school?
In ancient Rome, gladiators lived and trained in the ludus: cells and dormitories around a training courtyard, with an armory, kitchen and spaces for those who managed the school. In Rome, the largest, the Ludus Magnus, stood next to the Colosseum.
We used this organization as the basis for the environment: this is why the pack goes beyond the arena to recreate the school’s everyday life.
Gladiator school 3D environment: from the arena sand to the rooms of the Roman ludus
Exteriors and interiors are designed for both wide shots and close-ups: lighting, PBR materials and props work at close camera distances.

3D and real-time skills in one project
From reference research to the optimized scene: the same process we use for client projects.
References and layout
Study of how a ludus was organized and planning of the environment.
Modular kit
Exterior and interior architectural modules designed to fit together.
PBR materials
Stone, wood, fabrics and metals with adjustable Material Instances.
Assembly
Reusable Blueprints and PCG for vegetation and the environment.
Lighting and optimization
Cinematic lighting, Nanite on compatible meshes and collisions for real time.

From the pack to a custom project
This environment comes from our work on historical reconstructions and real-time worlds. We use the same approach for dedicated projects: an archaeological site in VR, a museum experience, a game or a video campaign.

Questions about the pack
How is it different from Modular Gladiator Arena?
The Arena is also available on its own. Roman Gladiator School & Arena includes the arena and adds the school, interiors, training grounds, living quarters, armory, kitchen, dining hall, reception rooms and landscape. Explore the standalone arena pack.
Are any external plugins required?
No third-party plugins are required. Unreal Engine’s built-in PCG plugin is required for the procedurally generated environmental elements.
Can it be used in virtual reality?
Yes, the environment is suitable for VR experiences. Performance, materials and configuration must be tested on the chosen device. Explore Loto Studios’ virtual reality experiences.
Can you adapt it to our project?
Yes. Loto Studios creates historical environments and dedicated VR and cinematic projects. We start with the period, locations, platform and goals. 3D animation and virtual reality are among the available services.
LET’S TALK ABOUT YOUR PROJECT
Do you have a historical world to reconstruct?
Tell us about the period, locations and platform: we will assess whether to start from an existing environment or build it to order, for a game, museum, VR experience or video.
