Projection mapping and projections

3D content and animations designed around the actual surfaces of façades, sets and objects. Visual storytelling starts with geometry and projection conditions.

PROJECTION MAPPING AND PROJECTIONS

The surface becomes part of the story.

Projection mapping connects moving images with a physical surface. Windows, volumes, edges and proportions can guide the composition: content is designed around the location rather than adapting a generic film at the end.

Loto develops the visual concept, scenes and animations, coordinating files with the team managing projectors and playback. We define what can be represented after gathering measurements, audience viewpoints and technical constraints.

For distinctive surfaces

Façades, sets or objects whose shape and volume are part of the message, with audience positioning to assess.

Mapping or video?

A video may be enough for a rectangular screen with no spatial relationship. Surrounding the audience with multiple surfaces requires assessing the whole immersive environment.

WHAT WE CREATE

Images built around geometry.

Content production and technical system design need shared specifications.

Concept and storyboard

Theme, pace and visual sequences are defined around what the surface makes readable.

3D scenes and animations

Volumes, materials and movement are built around the agreed measurements and references, with previews for review.

Playback files

We prepare resolutions, aspect ratios and splits required by the playback system, agreeing tests and technical corrections.

DESIGN AND PRODUCTION

From measurements to a projection test.

01

Survey and constraints

We gather geometry, photographs, distances and system data with the technical supplier.

02

Visual direction

We define sequences, pace and a representative preview before full production.

03

Content production

We create scenes and animations with agreed creative reviews.

04

Testing and adaptation

We check files in the playback system and agree a test on the actual surface.

TECHNICAL BRIEF

Measurements and specifications come before production.

Light, distance and surface materials affect what the audience will be able to see.

InputWhat we define together
GeometrySurvey, model or reliable measurements, photographs and areas of the surface to exclude.
Audience and environmentViewing positions, ambient light, duration and indoor or outdoor conditions.
System and playbackProjectors, resolutions, overlaps, audio and file splits, together with the technical supplier.

PROJECT TO EXPLORE

Vette e Onde: storytelling takes up space.

Vette e Onde is a Loto visual content and storytelling project for an immersive space. The reference concerns the narrative and imagery; geometry, technical systems and projection methods are developed for the location of the new project.

SCOPE AND BUDGET

The quotation depends on the surface and the story.

Projection mapping is quoted individually: duration, animation complexity, geometry, the number of surfaces and available materials determine the work required. An initial representative sequence helps define visual quality and revisions.

Projectors, rentals, structures, permits and installation are not automatically included in content production. Roles, on-site testing and timing are defined with the client and technical supplier.

FAQ

Questions about projection mapping.

Is a photograph of the façade enough?

A photograph can help the initial discussion, but production requires reliable measurements and system specifications. We define the necessary material together before confirming scope.

Do you also supply projectors?

Our scope is defined for each project. Supply or rental and system operation are agreed separately, including with the client’s technical supplier.

Can existing videos be used?

We assess them for resolution, rights, cropping and geometry. Some materials can be adapted; others require a new composition or production.

Does it work in daylight?

Readability depends on ambient light, the surface and the system. We do not confirm visual performance before a technical assessment with the projection team.

Can content be reused on another building?

The story and some assets may be reused, but geometry, resolutions and composition need reassessment. A change of surface is not a simple file replacement.

CONNECTED SERVICES

Different technologies, distinct objectives.

For content surrounding the audience in a continuous environment, consider an immersive room. If the objective is choosing or exploring, an interactive installation adds logic that responds to actions.

LET’S TALK ABOUT YOUR PROJECT

Which surface do you have in mind?

Tell us the location, date, surface and objective. Photographs, measurements and the technical supplier’s contact help us define content, formats and checks.

AN INITIAL DISCUSSION

Space, audience and technology before installation.

We distinguish content and software from hardware and technical services, so the quote starts from a realistic scope.
